Traditional installation can mean leaning over the deck, driving screws at an angle or working underneath. Visible fixings can interrupt the finish, while rigid installation can restrict natural board movement.

The BoardClip method

Fix each bracket to the post, then clip the board into place from the front. The fixing stays concealed, boards remain removable for access, and the bracket allows movement as temperatures change.

Neville Whitnall is a qualified joiner and carpenter who has spent years installing decking. BoardClip began as a direct response to one of the most awkward parts of a raised deck build: fitting the horizontal skirting boards.

Early sketches were developed with product specialists at Menai Innovation Centre into CAD drawings and 3D-printed prototypes. With support from Innovate UK, the design progressed to local manufacture in Conwy.
